Veterans have a huge impact on small business. Veteran owned businesses account for 2.4 million businesses in the United States, reports Forbes. This number accounts for 9% of all American firms. In addition, veteran owned firms employ almost six million people, which translates into a payroll of $210 billion. A substantial amount of these veteran owned business are run by former officers, around 55 percent, many of which are highly successful.
