Small Businesses Take On Credit Card Companies

A federal judge has allowed a case against the four major credit card companies to proceed, reports WTVR. The lawsuit, brought by four grocery store chains, alleges unfair practices on the part of the credit card companies in regards to the change to chip based credit card readers. The case has yet to achieve class action status, but if it does it could encompass 8 million small businesses.

Small businesses might also be affected by the Wells Fargo credit account scheme, reports Reuters. There may as many as 10,000 small business accounts impacted by the same improper Wells practices, that were used on individual consumers.

According to CNBC, while August showed some good news for small business lending, it also had some bad news. The Thomson Reuters/PayNet Small Business Lending Index rose in August, but unfortunately, the amount of businesses paying their loans late also rose.
