Working remotely is an employee benefit. Here's why.

telecommute2Working remotely is now possible with the use of Internet. Internet made it easy to connect to everyone including your employer. Because of this, working remotely has become possible and a rave of some employee whose job description can suffice this type of working environment.

Why does an employee want to have this kind of setup? It obviously reaps a lot of benefit, both for the company and employee. Here's why:

1. Improves an employee's balance between life and work.

The opportunity to work at home is one of the best things Internet technology has brought as it allows people to set their own work hours and devote quality time with family. A person could also set time for long forgotten hobbies.

2. An employee can work comfortably.

A person does not have to cope with the often annoyance of some to commute from and going to work. This will lessen the stress traveling brings from having to go to work every day. This will make an employee work more comfortably.

3. An employee will have extra 15 up to 25 workdays within a year.

This is the time spent commuting. An employee could have more time for himself now that he/she doesn't need to travel. This time could be spent to working off some job needed to be done to have a longer free time or spend it with friends and family.

4. An employee saves thousands of dollars.

These are commuting related cost plus the fact that an employee does not need to buy food for lunch, he/she could eat at home. Less gas cost as well if an employee has a car. No need to travel while working at home.

5. Employee has more freedom in his work.

Though freedom may sound such a great responsibility, it offers a stress free state of mind making work much easier. No hassle dealing with co-workers prying or losing focus due to a boss' demand on another task. All the time can be spent peacefully working.

Drawback it this situation is that there might be no work done by having too much freedom to do whatever an employee wants to do. There is also an issue of focus. With the kids around, how can an employee work straight the whole day?

6. Mild Cold won't hider an employee from working

Though this might sound like a benefit for the company, this will benefit an employee in a way that there are just jobs an employee love to do but if he/she works in an office or somewhere far, mild cold won't allow him/her to work. Mild cold would mean wasted day at home if an employee does not work remotely.

7. Pregnant woman can work at home

Disallowing a pregnant woman to work can be a discriminating issue. But there some instance when it is hard for a pregnant woman to travel. It is very ideal if she could work at home. An employer will just have to be careful in offering this benefit to not make it sound like there is a discrimination going on.
