Go, Go, Gadgets!

GadgetsThe ranks of smartphone owners in the United States continues to swell, with two-thirds of American consumers having one. According to Nielsen's Digital Consumer Report, released earlier this year, current smartphone ownership is up markedly from 2011, when 44 percent of American consumers owned such a device. Smartphones are so popular, they outrank gaming consoles, owned by 46 percent of the American population, and digital cable, which is found in more than half of American homes.

So, while it’s no secret smartphones are popular, they aren’t the only go-to gadget in the marketplace. Some gadgets, like Withings Pulse, a fitness band that helps a user monitor their heart rate and blood oxygen, among other things, is extremely popular with males, according to AskMen.com.

A gadget gaining popularity with women doubles as a fashion accessory. Ringly is a cocktail ring that discreetly notifies it wearer she has received a phone call or text message. Using Bluetooth technology connected to a smartphone, Ringly can be programmed to light up or vibrate when a call or text arrives.

If your cellphone, MP3 or other mobile device are all simultaneously in need of a charge, the Duracell Powermat can do the trick. TopTenReviews also praised the gadget’s versatility as it is compatible with the most brands.

However, has your cell phone ever been in need of a charge but there are no electric outlets to be found? Try the FatCat Powerbar4200, a device capable of charging a cell, iPad, iPod or camera on the go sans an outlet. It’s also small and conveniently fits in a jacket pocket or purse.

For those times when you need to record something, the Swann Video Camera Pen can do the trick. Disguised as a regular-sized ballpoint pen, this video vixen captures up to 4GB in video with its tiny lens. Better yet, those videos can transfer easily to a computer with a USB, which also charges the camera.

And who couldn’t benefit from StickNFind, a device designed to do what its name implies. Attach the small StickNFind sticker to a cell phone, keys, remote control, passport, dog, client file or whatever else you’re constantly searching for and the personal radar on the Bluetooth-enabled app will find it for you. The tiny sticker, which is smaller than a quarter, can also be illuminated when searching for something in the dark.

When it comes to Go-To Gadgets, just attach a StickNFind to the Joneses and you’ll have no trouble keeping up.
