Art is universal if not the very universe we are living in. It is in everything that surrounds us the sky, the earth. Art has many form may it be in painting, sculpture or the human art such as singing and dancing. It can be brought about by a process of expression.
Trying to understand art is like trying to grasp the whole essence of all things. What we, the audience of art, can do is to try to tap on a little surface to borrow a little of its wonder. That is how art is.
How can we, mere mortals understand art?
The truth is that we ourselves are product of art. To understand a perspective of art is to understand who we are. To appreciate art is to appreciate what we are and all that surrounds us.
There are many ways to go and see art around us but the most basic way to do this is to see an expression of art a gifted artist shared. Not all people have the gift to express art in this form.
Visiting museums is the best avenue as to how one can get the opportunity of looking at art the way an artist express this. Sad to say that some dismiss this as frivolous thing to do but these museums exhibits truly brings you to another world an artist created.
Visiting a museum can be an enriching experience. Here you get to see historical events, culture and day to day activities being portrayed in an art form. As mention, everything around us is an art.
There are varieties of art form in a museum, this way you will be able to see how all the things are connected artfully with one another. Museums are just but a representation of what the world of art is. To visit a museum with out prejudices is really an eye opener thing to do.
How can art expand your perspective?
Art inhabits all perception. With art, we will humbly acknowledge that there are things we can not fully comprehend. By accepting what we can not understand, we open our doors to new understanding.
This is the art within us. We see the living not as a tool or a means unto an end. We see everything in connection with one another. How we react cause a reaction.
If you look at a painting of a house, the painter did not paint just a house but the story behind it, a story that you might have known. And without words or knowing each other, you and the painter connect.
The painter was able to paint the house artfully because of his reaction to a story. You reacted to his painting because somehow you felt the story. The painter's feelings on to something cause a reaction. That is the art, not the painting per se.
How this expands your perspective? By definition, perspective is a point of view. In understanding art, you do not see what your eyes can see. You look at what is behind everything and by there you form your reaction.
This is what makes art more than just a thing but a connection and understanding.
