Why Some Family Businesses Survive

Statistics from The Family Business Institute show that only 30% of all family businesses survive beyond the founder’s generation, reports the New York Times. From there only 12% make it to a third generation. Those that are successful share several traits including the ability to reinvent, focus on succession and the ability to seek outside help.
