Nellen will testify about the effect of certain tax reform proposals on small business owners.  Among the subjects she’ll cover are tax rates for pass-through entities, the interest expense deduction, the need for simplified rules for qualified retirement plans and the importance of retaining the cash method of accounting for service businesses.  Nellen will also recommend the creation of a practitioner services unit within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that offers an online tax professional account with access to clients’ information, which would benefit the thousands of small businesses served by the tax practitioner community and the IRS.

The hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Room 428A of the Russell Senate Office Building.
