Time To Count The Widgets: Should I Hire An Outside Inventory Company?

alt

No one likes to do inventory. But, have you ever considered hiring an outside inventory company to do it for you? There are some benefits to hiring an outside company to do your inventory. They are professionals. Inventory is what they do, and what they know. They are usually very accurate, and you can (usually) trust them.

They have no interest or personal feelings with the company, so they are an unbiased source. Outside inventory companies are not friends of anyone in the company, so you do not have to worry about them turning a blind eye to a discrepancy or not being honest. The best part? They make it so you don't have to do the inventory yourself! You don't have to pay your employees over time to get it done. You don't have to worry about employees hiding anything from you. Everything is taken care of by someone else! If you are having trouble with inventory management, they can also help you to find solutions.

The negatives. Inventory companies can be very expensive, they can really take a toll on finances. They aren't perfect, and they can make mistakes just like everyone else. And, while most of them are legit and trustworthy, not all of them are. In some instances, you can trust your employees more than strangers. The price of an inventory company can really be high. No one wants to do their own inventory, and these companies know it!

The truth is, no one can determine whether or not you should hire an inventory mmanagement company except you. I would advise that you search online for other opinions, and ask other small business owners what their experiences are. You will get a ton of different responses, and then you can use the information to make your own informed decision.
