Innovate Alabama Awards Millions to Small Businesses

Innovate Alabama Awards Millions to Small Businesses 100 us dollar bill

Innovate Alabama awarded more than $2.1 million to 15 small businesses Wednesday in its third round of supplemental grants. According to CEO Cynthia Crutchfield, the program is designed to "boost Alabama small businesses through the Supplemental Grant Program" and "make the difference in these small businesses bringing their research to market." Entrepreneurs who have received Phase I or Phase II SBIR or STTR grants received up to $150,000 in grant funding.

Opinion:

Innovate Alabama's grant program is certainly a step in the right direction for small businesses in the state. It is encouraging to see the government taking proactive steps to support small businesses and entrepreneurs. However, it is important to remember that this grant program is only a short-term solution and more needs to be done to ensure that small businesses have the resources they need to thrive in the long-term.
